The selected photos will be printed as postcards pursuant to an agreement celebrated with MOO.
Cuprocking is the name of the technique and artwork of street artist Andy Uprock. Astonishing mosaics made with more than 2,000 plastic cups stuck into the diamond-shaped holes of chain link fences. After coloring and photographing the artwork, he recycles the cups in new installations that have made this Australian artist visit the biggest cities in the world.
Street & Studio: An Urban History of Photography is the name of the new exhibition presented at the Tate Modern gallery until August 31. Comprising over 300 works by famous photographers, the exhibition will examine two contrasting sites of photographic practice: the street and the studio. Works by Robert Mapplethorpe, Cindy Sherman and Wolfgang Tillmans are included. Besides, the photos received from all parts of the world through a Flickr group will be displayed on a screen in the gallery.
The American artist Jeff Koons, known internationally for his controversial contributions to contemporary art (and also for being porn-star Cicciolina’s ex husband), is exhibiting Jeff Koons on the Roof, a series of sculptures that had only been seen in pictures. Large-scale and brilliantly colored works of art, all made of stainless steel, will be situated in the Metropolitan Museum of Art terrace (New York) until October 26, offering also spectacular views of Central Park.
During 2008 summer and for three months, four giant waterfalls will be erected in New York in a public art project called The New York City Waterfalls, which was designed by the Danish artist Olafur Eliasson. From May 24 to September 21, Global Frequencies will organize boat dance parties having the Waterfalls as the background picture.
