The reinterpretation of 40 years of psychedelia of the pop duo MGMT not only gave the indie scene a nerve and audacity injection, but also inspired Frida Giannini, Gucci’s creative director. In the Milan Fashion Week shows, the traditional Italian fashion house dedicated its latest Spring 2009 menswear collection to MGMT, defying common sense. Take a look at the designs.
A combination of an avalanche of strident colors with reminiscences of psy trance and the 80’s, and a post-minimalist, wild and mystical imaginary, but without nostalgia.
Exuberance of images, contemporary remains of new rave and sophistication complete this esthetic, which is as original as enthusiastic.
Gucci turned this eclectic mixture into elegant models that walked up and down the runway while “Time To Pretend” –one of their anthems included in their debut album Oracular Espectacular– was playing.
